Complementing the launch of the UAE ART ARCHIVE (www.uaeartarchive.org) and in recognition of the growing enthusiasm for the arts in the UAE, the UAE Pavilion for the 53rd Venice Biennale in partnership with Emirates Airline have organized a design competition. All residents of the UAE are eligible to submit their original artwork (see criteria below) to be used as the new banner image on the UAE ART ARCHIVE homepage.

Commencing from July 23rd, the competition will be judged by the Ambassadors to the UAE Pavilion: Sultan Al Qassemi, Alanood Al Warshaw, Jack Persekian, Paula Askari, Hannan Sayed, Nadine Kanso, Rashid Shabib, Ahmed Shabib, Sunny Rahbar and Maliha Tabari. The contest will close on September 2nd and an announcement of the winner will be made on September 16th at a Suhoor during Ramadan to reveal who will be awarded two economy flight tickets to Venice with a three-day stay at a four-star hotel in Venice and two tickets to visit the 53rd Venice Biennale, courtesy of Emirates Airline.

A. Original artwork in the form of a photograph or illustration that in your opinion illustrates the UAE Art Community:

- 688x180 pixels
- No bigger than 30KB

B. 200 word statement on why your submission symbolizes the UAE Art Community

C. Basic information:
- Title for the artwork
- Full name
- Email address
- Telephone number
- Mailing address

  • Prize details:

- Two return tickets from Dubai to Venice Italy (to be used before November 19th 2009)
- Three nights in a four star hotel in Venice
- Two tickets to the 53rd Venice Biennale

  • How to participate:

- Email submission and required information to info@uaepavilion.org by 6:00 p.m. 2nd September 2009
- Each participant can enter up to 3 submissions

*Eligibility and Rules:

- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be able to travel before Thursday November 19th 2009
- Prize can not be exchanged for cash
- Should be a UAE citizen or have a valid UAE residency visa
- Winner is responsible for Visa to Italy
-Artwork once submitted is property of the UAE Pavilion Office
- Judges' final decision
