Typographic Matchmaking in the City is a three-year project, where ten Arab and Dutch type designers collaborated to create five new Arabic fonts that match existing Latin fonts, thus producing five dual-script font families for books and publications. Shot on several locations in Amsterdam, Dubai, Sharjah, Pingjum and Doha, this documentary follows the 5 teams of designers as they participated in the project, documenting the design process, the struggles and challenges they faced, but also addresses the larger topics of bringing two cultures into a dialogue through design. The film gives a very humane and personal portrait of the process of creation and creativity.
