Martin Parr (born 1952) is a British documentary photographer and photojournalist. He is one of the worlds most successful and popular contemporary photographers and a leading member of the prestigious Magnum agency.
In recent years, Parr has become increasingly interested in film-making and has started to focus much of his career toward fashion photography and advertising.
Parr has been included in many notable solo exhibitions since the mid 1970s. He has been included in many group exhibitions internationally (including The Thatcher Years at the
Museum of Modern Art in New York [1991], Tate Liverpool [2000] and Netherlands Foto Institute [1996]). He had also contributed extensively to magazines and directed a number of advertising campaigns, including the latest Louis Vuitton campaign.
In 2002 a major retrospective of Parr’s work featured at the Barbican Art Gallery and the National Museum.
