Catalogue of an exhibition of printed books containing Arabic script, ranging across the centuries from a 14th-century block-print to a scholarly edition of Al-Fārābī printed in Beirut in 1961. Sections on the Precursors and Origins of Arabic typography are followed by 13 on different countries and areas of Europe, the Arab world, Turkey, India and USA, and a final section on lithography. Enlarged specimens from each exhibit enable detailed comparisons to be made between different type-faces of the pre-digital era.
