A system for numbers. This could elegantly combine latin and arabic numerals as well as indic. As a modular system, it could also include single letters, symbols and images.

The google earth pic, overlayed with a section of the Blaeu map of "Persia". This is a quick overlay, there is no hard science backing it up. What could have been the old name for Dubai on this map?
