The concept behind the design was to have 4 different sections of a book each illustrating a certain perspective of post-revolutionary Egypt as represented by Mahfouz in his novel Miramar. As to visuals and graphic treatments they were picked and treated to match the vernacular of that era. The peculiar binding, with 4 spines, makes the book free of a linear reading in terms of story narrative. It instead allows the reader to start reading at any given section where a different character foretells each story in the book. The totality of these sections/characters represents the different social statuses of the Egyptian society at the moment.
